How to Become a Master Gardener

The Master Gardener program involves volunteer education and community outreach. At the completion of the 60-hour training program, "intern" Master Gardeners fulfill their commitment to perform 45 hours of community service during each of the following two years. To remain active, Master Gardeners must complete 25 hours of community service annually and 10 hours of continuing education.

In Mason County training to become a Master Gardener is held every other year. In 2007 forty four Master Gardener Interns completed training. The next training begins on September 18, 2009 and continues each Friday from 9 am - 4 pm through November 20, 2009. This year the training program will include on line training modules. Access to a computer is highly advised, but we will accommodate those who do not have access to a computer. To find out more about becoming a Mason County Master Gardener contact Jeanne Rehwaldt. Complete the following application and submit to WSU Mason County Extension.
