1. Updates
q Watershed Plan: Comments on the Water Quantity chapter are past due and need to be turned in soon.
q A person has been charged with a felony for illegally dumping sewage above Oakland Bay; Oakland Bay is indefinitely closed to shellfish harvests.
2. Presentation by NW Land and Water
q Laura Strauss and Jim Mathieu of NW Land and Water gave an overview of the conceptual model they are developing to assess the hydrogeology of the study area.
q They also presented a rough draft of the work plan ideas they are developing for discussion by the PU in February. The work plan would focus on a small area (a sub-area of the 60 square-mile study area that is included in the conceptual model).
q The initial discussion of the TC focused on the John’s Prairie/McEwan Prairie area as the desired sub-area, but the group believed it needs more time to think about these options. This will be discussed at the January PU meeting so that Jim and Laura can refine the work plan before presentation to the PU in February.
3. Storage Grant
q Theresa, along with the consultants working with the City of Shelton, presented a proposal for a potential storage grant application.
q The proposal (a Multipurpose Water Storage Assessment) would build on the work being completed by NW Land and Water, and would coordinate with the regional water/sewer planning effort.
q The TC asked that this be discussed at the next PU meeting.
4. Ideas for Ecology’s Environmental Assistance Program (EAP) Projects
q The TC identified two projects they’d like to propose to the Dept. of Ecology for the Environmental Assistance Program: 1) Continuous stream flow monitoring on Kennedy, Perry and Shelton Creeks, and 2) Measurement of water levels in wells within the study area of the hydro-geo characterization.
q Phil will submit these proposals with assistance from Jeanne Kinney and Jim Mathieu.
5. Upcoming Meetings
q The next Planning Unit Meeting will be on Wednesday, January 28th from 2:30-4:30 at the Civic Center in Shelton.
q The next TC meeting will be on Wednesday, February 11th from 10-12 at the Shelton Civic Center.
