is to evaluate the existing status of our surface and ground waters and prepare a comprehensive watershed plan developed by local people that will ensure reliable supplies of clean water for our local communities, business, and agriculture, while sustaining fish populations and habitat.


The Washington State Legislature passed the Watershed Management Act in 1998, providing funds for local planning groups to form to have some say in the future of water resource related issues.


WRIA 14 Kennedy/Goldsborough – one of 62 geographic areas defined by surface water resources, located in Mason, Thurston, and Grays Harbor counties.

Over a five-year period, the planning group looked at the area's water quality and quantity and recommended short-term and long-term management strategies to local and state and decision makers. The final plan was not officially adopted, however the information and recommendations are still seen as quite valuable for future use. Read the final draft of the plan:
