Mason County 4-H Forestry Leadership Summer Program

The 4-H Forestry Leadership Summer Program will allow 10-15 high school students from Mason County to learn leadership skills and experience sustainable natural resource management by doing service-learning projects alongside natural resource professionals. This program is designed for students who want to explore and experience activities in forestry and wildlife related careers and who have a special interest in hands-on community service activities.

The four weeks "in the field" will consist of several projects that allow program members to apply what they have learned.

Past projects include:

  • Habitat for Humanity House Landscaping
  • Educational nature trail building for Southside School
  • Trail building for Truman Glick Park
  • Wildlife conservation projects

T.R.E.E. (Teens Rebuilding Environmental Excellence)

Program participants are automatically enrolled in the 4-H club, T.R.E.E. which is active all year long following the summer program.

The 2009 4-H Forestry Leadership Summer Program will run from July 6 through August 7. Participants must be at least 14 years of age, enrolled in the 8th-12th grade for the 2009-2010 year, and be able to commit to the entire 5 week period. Applications are due to the Mason County Extension Office no later than 5:00 pm on June 12, 2009. Below is a link for the brochure and application .
